March Book Frenzy Blog Hop

This is a blog hop where each blogger chooses an author from the catalogue of fantastic eAuthors to feature or discuss. The book I have chosen to feature is She Belongs to Me by Carmen Desousa, partly because it appealed to me and partly because Carmen seems like a nice author who acknowledges her readers, which I like. You can check out the catalogue from the links below to get all the info about the featured books. Remember to enter the giveaway for some fantastic prizes.

She Belongs to Me appealed to me when I first saw the cover. I love the purple/blue tones that suggest a kind of mysterious, late sunset or dusk feeling. We only catch a glimpse of the gorgeous model. Just enough to see her beauty, but not enough to really know her or see who she is. I love long hair, and I was also drawn to the modesty of her clothing. It's sometimes too easy to go for the sexy half-dressed models on covers, but this cover took some thought.

I'm really looking forward to diving into the story. I have become quite interested in suspense and mysteries lately. I'm also keen to see other people's opinions on how our past shapes our future. So this sounds like the book for me.

Book Blurb:

A passionate romantic-suspense.
She Belongs To Me is a tightly woven tale of love, possession, and concealed histories, 'She Belongs to Me' follows a man who finds his wife unconscious, clinging to life. Was it a suicide attempt, or a sinister force from her former life? To learn the answer, he must go back to the beginning, five years ago when he met his wife and learned of her tragic past.

She Belongs to Me is book one of The Southern Suspense Series. From there, all the stories have a slight connection to each other, so you can continue the journey and meet different protagonists with different issues and tragedies to overcome. Every story has a mystery, there's always a gentle message, and above all, there's always romance and suspense.

She also has to decide if the dilapidated barn and vintage merry-go-round she's awarded in the divorce settlement is a blessing or a bane. As if Lauren's personal life isn't chaotic enough, this slightly jaded attorney is overrun with a cast of quirky characters who can't stay on the right side of the law. What's a woman to do? Parnell Stillman, ace pilot, is man to the bone in a lackadaisical kind of way. He has the ability to fly through anything except solid mountain. He lives alone because people are not to be trusted--especially women. Flying is his high road until one sleet-filled morning--it isn't. Mischance forces his plane down in a frozen wilderness.

He can survive, but his live cargo is another matter--an annoying social worker and five orphans--the most irksome freight he's ever hauled in his life.
Rebecca Hollis is distraught. The orphans have missed their chance for parents. She determines to force the obnoxious, disagreeable, self-centered pilot to do what is necessary to insure the survival and rescue of the orphans... Even if it means making the noble gesture of keeping her mouth shut--or other womanly things.

But the pilot isn't having it. No way. No how. No time. He'd rather dance with a grizzly or wrestle a puma
than give his heart over to a sly, conniving, wily do-gooder. But the pilot isn't having it. No way. No how. No time. He'd rather dance with a grizzly or wrestle a puma than give his heart over to a sly, conniving, wily do-gooder. He is not into heroics. Rebecca Hollis has other ideas--lots of them! All artful and disingenuou one of which is bound to work...she hopes.

Obsessed with the discovery, Justin determines to find the truth. 4. Hi Kate! Glad to see someone else chose the same book that I did for the hop! Loved the way you presented it and congrats on your beautiful blog too! Absolutely can't wait to read Carmen's book and so many others among the 8 seemed quite intriguing as well :) http://effrosinimoss.wordpress.com/2014/03/27/march-book-frenzy-an-exciting-hop-organized-by-fabulosity-reads/

  6. Thank you so much for sharing your site with me and my friends, Kate. AND...thank you so much for highlighting 'She Belongs to Me'. I hope your avid-reading friends enjoy reading it as much as I loved writing it. It was my first born, so it'll always hold a special place in my heart. :)

  7. I totally agree with your thoughts on this cover, although I do prefer the one for the paperback. But this one is nice, too! Blue and purple (especially blue!) are colors that I've always liked, so covers done in these colors appeal to me immediately!

Your statement about the model's beauty being half-hidden is very insightful, since this means, to me, that it was done on purpose, because this book is a mystery, after all. Furthermore, I agree with you about the modesty of the cover. I for one am sick and tired of overly sexy covers featuring women. As for guys, I must confess that I really don't mind seeing a shirtless hunk on a cover.....lol.

Thanks for visiting my blog and commenting on my March Book Frenzy post!! : )

    1. Thank you, Maria and Kate, for the wonderful comments on my cover. Wow, Kate...you nailed it. I actually just wrote a blog post, explaining why I changed all my covers...and I had a previous post why I don't put men on my covers, so if it's okay, I'd like to share them with you and Marie. If not, just delete the comment. I won't be offended. And yes, I'm always anxious to chat with my avid-reading friends. Several of my books came about via readers' request. I really try to respond to every direct question on Twitter, FB, and my website. :)

Thank you again, ladies. I truly hope you enjoy my first book. :)
