Book Review - Miss Ridley & the Warlock by Diana Green

Diana Green's story of Miss Ridley and the Warlock delighted me in the way she entwined old world charm with a new alternate world.

I am always overjoyed with rebels who mix genres. Green has done that with an historical fantasy with a hint of romance, for good measure.

This story held an exciting pace which kept me keen to discover the answers of the many riddles we are introduced to in the first few chapters. What is the nature of the pact between Allan and Ureleon? Will Romance blossom between Gemma and Allan? What are the strange creatures that circle the grounds at night?

Gemma Ridley is a likeable character with a down-to-earth nature and a sharp mind. You feel empathy for her. Disgraced by her father's legacy and overshadowed by the memory of the mother of her young charges, she holds her head high.

Allan Kenrik is a dashing, but not pompous, hero who has to face seemingly impossible decisions for the future of those he cares for.  He might just be my new "book boyfriend".

Delve into this magical world, if you enjoy paranormal fantasy with a twist, and a splash of romance. It's a quick read, but an enjoyable one. I loved the strong female character, and the exciting pace - and I think you will, too.

I'm looking forward to Green's next book, Mr Thorne & the Witch.
